As we approach my TWO YEAR (😱) anniversary of my loose skin removal surgery, I can’t help but reflect on how far I’ve come and how proud I am of the progress I have made. I wasn’t in the healthiest place when I had my surgery. I was terrified of what would happen during recovery. I was binge-eating and I knew I wouldn’t be able to exercise. I feared weight gain because at that time, I truly thought that gaining weight was the worst thing that could happen to me. My surgery showed me that I can maintain my weight with diet alone. It was a huge revelation and it helped me conquer an exercise addiction that I didn’t even realize I had. After surgery, I started struggling with body image issues that I had previously assumed would disappear following the removal of my loose skin. I had a drainless tummy tuck and my swelling was really bad. It negatively affected how I viewed my body. When the swelling finally went down, I was still left with a lot of body image issues. It has taken me a long time to feel confident in my body. Some days are better than others. But something I am proud of is that I wake up everyday excited to be my healthiest and happiest self. While I still struggle with accepting my body, it’s liberating to no longer fear it. I used to fear that my weight would kill me. I feared dying in my sleep or having a heart attack because of my size. Losing nearly 140lbs has taught me more than I could have ever imagined. I’ve come a far way and I hope my story can encourage you to never give up on yourself. 🖤 Starting date: January 8th, 2016 Height: 5’9”

#TransformationTuesday Yesterday I got the opportunity to tell my story at my dads work for their women’s day. I spoke a lot about sustainability when it comes to weight loss.. something I’m so passionate about sharing. It honestly is the most important part of why I was finally successful in losing and keeping it off. I had soooo many years of restricting and then quitting. Trying fads and quick fixes and always feeling like a failure. Eating one cookie and feeling like I ruined all my progress. I was SO damn tired of giving up. SO tired of feeling like it was going to be impossible to lose the weight. Until the day I cautiously walked into my first WW meeting and signed up. Started eating the BEST foods, making fun new recipes, and actually enjoying what I was eating while watching the scale go down. That was when I knew I could do it. Find what that is for you. For today’s #mondaymotivation I wanted to take a walk down memory lane and remember THE outfit. It’s now been 19 months since our “day 1”.
