35-year-old Taiwanese actor-model Godfrey Gao (高以翔) passed on after collapsing on set in the morning of November 27 due to a heart attack. Godfrey’s heart reportedly stopped for three minutes and was later brought back to life after 15 minutes of CPR resuscitation but still departed the world three hours later.

Godfrey was filming an episode of Chinese sports variety programme Chase Me ( (追我吧) alongside celebrities such as Joey Yung, William Chan and more where they were expected to compete in different obstacles to see which team can reach the finish line first. According to the staff on set, Godfrey said “I can’t do it anymore,” before collapsing.
Confirming his death
His agency JetStar Entertainment confirmed his death on social networking platform Weibo and said: “In the early hours of Nov. 27, our beloved Godfrey collapsed while filming on set. Following three hours of rescue efforts, he unfortunately left us. We are very shocked and saddened and even until now find it impossible to accept.”
Finding success in his career
Godfrey was born in Taiwan but moved to Canada during his childhood where he received his education at. In 2004, Godfrey returned to Taiwan officially for professional modeling works and was later known as the first Asian model employed by Louis Vuitton.
Apart from modelling, he also acted in many notable dramas and movies such as the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Love Is A Broadway Hit and most recently, Legend of the Ancient Sword and Shanghai Fortress.
Godfrey’s body will be transported back home to Taipei on November 27. Our hearts are with his family, loved ones and fans in this difficult time. Rest in peace, Godfrey. 🙏
